8 March: International Women’s Day – education, a fundamental basis for gender equality
We celebrate IWD, to bear in mind that there’s still much work to do to acknowledge women’s rights across the globe, simply to achieve full gender equality for women when it comes to education, health and violence.
Among the many issues that can be addressed, we would like to qualify the right to education of women.
Education is a human right and an indispensable tool for achieving the goals of equality, development and peace. Non-discriminatory education benefits both girls and boys and leads to more equal relationships between women and men.
Without education, there is no freedom; an uneducated woman has few resources to reach the heights of her dreams, enhance her own home and thus her country by contributing substantially to prosperous economies and improve the health, nutrition and education of her families.
